For Individuals & Community

What is mindfulness, and how does breathwork fit in?

Mindfulness is the practice of being fully present with what’s happening in the moment—without judgment, distraction, or the need to change it. It’s about tuning in to your breath, body, thoughts, and emotions with compassion and curiosity.

Breathwork is one of the ways we practice mindfulness in an embodied way. It invites you to focus on your breath as an anchor, helping you calm the mind, regulate the nervous system, and process stored emotions. Unlike quiet meditation, breathwork combines intentional breathing with body awareness, sound, and movement—making it a more active and embodied way to experience mindfulness.

At The Inner Calm Academy, we use breathwork as a pathway to reclaim your power and protect your peace.

What is group breathwork, and how does it work virtually?

Group breathwork is a guided experience where multiple participants breathe together in a shared virtual space. Using a conscious connected breathing pattern, curated music, and gentle facilitation, you’ll be guided through a multi-sensory journey to release tension, regulate your nervous system, and reconnect with your inner calm. All you need is a quiet space, a device with internet, and your breath.

Is this just breathwork?

Breathwork is one of our core tools, but not the only one. We also integrate mindfulness, meditation, movement, nervous system education, and other practices that support self-awareness, emotional regulation, and resilience.

How is this connected to the Engineering Your Calm™ Framework?

Breathwork is one of the ways we bring the Engineering Your Calm™ Framework to life. Through breath, presence, and community, we help people build calm as a practical skill they can return to in everyday life.

Do I need prior experience to join?

Not at all. These sessions are designed for all levels—whether you’re brand new to breathwork or returning to deepen your practice. You’ll receive clear instructions and support every step of the way.

What can I expect during a session?

Each session includes a grounding introduction, guided conscious connected breathwork, music to support emotional release and relaxation, and a gentle integration period. You may experience physical sensations, emotional release/catharsis, or deep stillness—all of which are welcome and held in a supportive, trauma-informed container.

How long is each session?

Group sessions typically last between 60-90 minutes, including time for new breathers to learn the conscious connected breathing technique.

Private sessions typically last about 60 mins, with the initial session at about 90 mins to learn the conscious connected breathing technique.

What should I bring or prepare?

  • A quiet, private space where you can lie down comfortably
  • Headphones (for the best sound and immersive experience)
  • A yoga mat, blanket, or cushion
  • Eye mask
  • Optional: water, journal, or tissues

Is it safe to do breathwork alone at home?

Virtual breathwork is safe. You’ll be guided through the entire process and encouraged to honor your body’s signals. If you have a history of trauma, respiratory or heart conditions, or are pregnant, consult your healthcare provider and let the facilitator know in advance.

Can I turn off my camera during the session?

No. The breathwork practitioner must be able to see all participants from the head to the waist at all times. This is for safety reasons. Anyone with their camera off will be removed from the virtual space.

Will I be expected to talk or share during the session?

No. Sharing is always optional. You’re invited to simply show up, breathe, and receive. If you’d like to share reflections at the end, space is held—but never required.

What kind of breathing do we use in the session?

Conscious Connected Breathwork and others. There will be a detailed demonstration of any breathwork technique used.

Who do you work with?

We work with individuals, students, professionals, leaders, and communities who are looking for more grounded ways to navigate stress, pressure, and personal growth. Our spaces are designed to be welcoming, supportive, and inclusive.

Is Calm Circle right for me if I've never done breathwork before?

Absolutely. Calm Circle is specifically designed to be accessible for first-timers. You'll receive a full demonstration of the breathing technique before we begin, and you're always encouraged to honor your body's pace throughout the session.
