Meet Danielle Andisa Johnson
Founder and Chief Calm Officer, The Inner Calm Academy
Danielle Andisa is the visionary behind The Inner Calm Academy, a wellness education company dedicated to helping people reduce stress, reclaim peace, and live with purpose.
She blends engineering precision with spiritual intuition, bridging logic and soul to make mindfulness practical, powerful, and personal. Her approach is simple: calm isn’t a concept—it’s a skill you can build, one breath at a time.
A former NASA Program Executive turned mindfulness educator and entrepreneur, Danielle knows firsthand what it’s like to navigate demanding environments while holding it all together. Her lived experience as a Black woman in STEM fuels her passion to bring accessible, science-backed wellness tools to those who need them most.
For over 14 years, Danielle has guided hundreds toward calm and clarity through her trauma-informed and heart-centered approach. Her work is rooted in both ancient wisdom and modern neuroscience—designed for real people, living real lives.

My Story, My Words (no AI 😂)
Founder & Chief Calm Officer • Breathwork Facilitator • Mindfulness Educator • Reformed Engineer • Lifelong Student • Lover of All Things Woo-Woo
True story: the idea for my business came from the artist, producer, and low-key philosopher, David Banner. At the 2024 National Society of Black Engineers Professional Development Conference, he challenged us to meditate on one question:
“What do you engineer?”
A few days later, it hit me... I engineer people’s calm. And truth be told, I’d been doing it for years—mostly with myself, sometimes with my family, and especially with the interns. I realized I'd been designing systems of serenity all along.
That moment sparked the vision that would become The Ma'at Collective, then re-branded to The Inner Calm Academy.
For 23 years, I was a NASA Civil Servant—an engineer who thrived in project management and organization. In my last role, I served as the Program Executive for a $2.3 billion space weather satellite mission. It was high-stakes, high-pressure, and—under the current political climate—high blood pressure. Literally. When my numbers hit stroke level, I knew: enough was enough.
So, I did what any logical engineer guided by Spirit would do—I checked in with my higher self, my ancestors, and my guides… then said, “I’m out.” ✌🏾
I’m a native Houstonian who recently found my way back home, and it feels like a full-on rebirth. When I’m not guiding breathwork, you’ll probably find me racking up airline miles, reading real books with actual pages, digging into my family’s genealogy, or doing my best to transition into the plant-based life—unless pepperoni pizza is calling my name. 😅
Leaving NASA was no small thing. It was my identity, my pride, my security. And yet, one day, I walked away—from the structure, the title, the “prestige.” I chose to trust—trust my breath, my intuition, my inner calm.
Now, I’m living my divine calling with child-like trust and unwavering curiosity.
Today, as the Founder and Chief Calm Officer of The Inner Calm Academy, I hold an award-winning vision—recognized by the Delta Red Tank—to build a community for changemakers to slow down, tune in, and uncover the calm that’s already within.
Through breathwork, mindfulness, and presence practices, we teach people how to re-calibrate, embody deeper trust, and grow inner knowing.
Every single day still pulls me out of my comfort zone—but that’s where the growth happens. So, I breathe. I trust. I rise.
All in service and love for my people.
